To meet these demands, companies must not only possess design expertise but also have the knowledge and experience required to conduct verification. However, small and medium-sized enterprises in particular often lack the specific knowledge needed to qualify their components in accordance with aviation construction regulations.[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”7c0ad95c-dcf2-4930-9631-952e4eeba957″]Every industry expert knows that the global players in the aviation industry have been completely realigning their own value creation—as well as that of their suppliers—for several years now. For small and medium-sized supplier companies in particular, this means that simply manufacturing products is no longer enough. Companies must offer complete solutions that specifically include development services. In this context, the actual design is usually not the biggest challenge. Companies already possess in-depth knowledge in this area. The problem lies rather in the documentation process. Identifying, interpreting, and applying aviation regulatory design requirements (Certification Specifications) poses a significant challenge. SMEs without certification experience are then confronted primarily with the following questions:[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”7c0ad95c-dcf2-4930-9631-952e4eeba957″]

What are the applicable requirements, and which verification method (test, assessment, analysis, calculation, etc.) should be used?

What are the specific test requirements that must be applied, and how should the documentation be structured in practice to ensure that it ultimately complies with aviation law?

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_cta title=” Learn more now about our EASA Part 21 + 145 services” button_url=”https://aeroimpulse.fr/en/bauteilzulassung-engineering-support/” button_text=”Read more” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”d7b3ef11-9844-4235-8a62-4fb2a42c4ede” background_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff” button_text_color=”gcid-a4d4b690-c5d0-4305-acd7-d33639818f8a” button_bg_color=”gcid-fe81fea7-9791-4cbb-8f14-ab23dab8ad8d” link_option_url=”https://aeroimpulse.fr/en/bauteilzulassung-engineering-support/” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{%22gcid-fe81fea7-9791-4cbb-8f14-ab23dab8ad8d%22:%91%22button_bg_color%22%93,%22gcid-a4d4b690-c5d0-4305-acd7-d33639818f8a%22:%91%22button_text_color%22%93,%22gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff%22:%91%22background_color%22%93}” sticky_enabled=”0″]

Development in the Aviation Industry in Accordance with EASA Part 21J

[/et_pb_cta][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text admin_label=”Headline Bauvorschriften” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”f27d57d5-2206-4fa2-bb4e-1883933a92a9″ header_2_text_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff” global_colors_info=”{%22gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff%22:%91%22header_text_color%22,%22header_2_text_color%22%93}” header_text_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff”]

Fully identify building codes and other requirements

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”7c0ad95c-dcf2-4930-9631-952e4eeba957″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” custom_padding=”0px||0px|4px|false|false”]

The first step is to identify the regulations. In doing so, it is particularly important to ensure that they are complete. To this end, the focus is initially on the customer’s specification or requirements document. Ideally, all requirements are already listed there. Often, however, only the top-level requirements—namely, the applicable EASA construction regulations (Certification Specification—CS)—are specified. For the construction of large aircraft (Airbus, Boeing), these are primarily CS-25 and CS-ETSO, which are available on the EASA website. However, the customer sometimes omits to specify additional, equally mandatory requirements. In such cases, the applicable sections of the construction regulations must be consulted, as they may cite further standards and specification documents. For example, the construction regulations for ETSO products often refer to an SAE or RTCA document (e.g., SAE APR4761 System Safety Assessment or RTCA DO 160 Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures of Airborne Equipment). These documents then provide more detailed guidance on design and/or verification procedures. If there is any uncertainty regarding the applicability or validity of individual construction regulations or additional specifications, the supplier should always consult the customer or the customer’s responsible 21J development organization.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text admin_label=”Headline Auswahl Nachweismethode” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”f27d57d5-2206-4fa2-bb4e-1883933a92a9″ header_2_text_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff” global_colors_info=”{%22gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff%22:%91%22header_text_color%22,%22header_2_text_color%22%93}” header_text_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff”]

Selection of the Detection Method and Conditions

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”7c0ad95c-dcf2-4930-9631-952e4eeba957″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” custom_padding=”0px||0px|4px|false|false”]

The second step is to determine the detection method. Components are usually tests, analyses and calculations. The exact nature of the verification should be derived directly from the customer’s specification or requirements document. If, however, no clear information is given on the verification method, but reference is made to a paragraph in the building regulations or to an SAE or RTCA document, these must be interpreted by the company itself and/or the necessary information must be requested from the customer. In addition, special conditions for the subsequent use of the equipment (e.g. cabin or outside the pressure range) must be taken into account, as these generally have an effect on the test requirements.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_cta title=”Do you need assistance with component approval?” button_url=”https://aeroimpulse.fr/en/contact/” button_text=”Contact form” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”b2ab463a-fbaa-439c-b9ee-1e3ac6f1fafa” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{%22gcid-a4d4b690-c5d0-4305-acd7-d33639818f8a%22:%91%22button_text_color%22,%22button_bg_color__hover%22,%22button_border_color__hover%22,%22body_text_color%22%93,%22gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff%22:%91%22button_text_color__hover%22,%22button_border_color%22%93,%22gcid-447063c4-da45-48e1-96cb-01977443b517%22:%91%22button_bg_color%22%93}” button_bg_color__hover=”gcid-a4d4b690-c5d0-4305-acd7-d33639818f8a” button_border_color__hover=”gcid-a4d4b690-c5d0-4305-acd7-d33639818f8a” button_text_color__hover=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff” sticky_enabled=”0″ button_text_color=”gcid-a4d4b690-c5d0-4305-acd7-d33639818f8a” body_text_color=”gcid-a4d4b690-c5d0-4305-acd7-d33639818f8a” button_border_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff” button_bg_color=”gcid-447063c4-da45-48e1-96cb-01977443b517″]We’re here to help!
Request a no-obligation quote at info@aeroimpulse.de or
+49 (0)40 5131 5291[/et_pb_cta][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”e1fbf107-ca39-4ee4-b671-ebf4d2633462″][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text admin_label=”Headline Luftrechtlich” _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”f27d57d5-2206-4fa2-bb4e-1883933a92a9″ header_2_text_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff” global_colors_info=”{%22gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff%22:%91%22header_text_color%22,%22header_2_text_color%22%93}” header_text_color=”gcid-7017af99-804f-4997-adc0-e93f5909dcff”]

Compliance with aviation regulations regarding the submission of supporting documentation

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”7c0ad95c-dcf2-4930-9631-952e4eeba957″]Once all requirements and the methodology for providing evidence are known, the focus shifts to conducting the evidence-gathering process in a manner recognized under aviation law, including its preparation and follow-up. For tests, a Qualification Test Plan and a Qualification Test Report must be prepared. In addition, a Declaration of Design and Performance (DDP) must be prepared at the conclusion of the process, specifying which characteristics were tested and whether the test was passed.

If a supplier lacks sufficient experience in this area and if documentation recognized under aviation law is not expected to become part of its day-to-day operations in the future, it is advisable to engage an external specialist. There are certified companies that have tailored their range of services specifically to the provision of aviation-specific tests, safety assessments, analyses, and calculations. AeroImpulse is here to provide expert advice to help you select such a specialist.

Suppliers who wish to provide aviation-related certification more frequently must build up their capabilities over the long term, primarily through training and knowledge transfer with the assistance of the customer or external specialists. Any company seeking to establish itself in the long term as a recognized aerospace supplier with expertise in manufacturing, design, and compliance documentation should also seek EN 9100 certification and, if applicable, obtain a 21G production approval under aviation regulations. AeroImpulse not only provides support in working with construction regulations, SAE, and RTCA documents, but also offers comprehensive consulting and guidance for EN 9100 and 21G implementation. Until the supplier has built up its own expertise, it is crucial to coordinate closely with the customer’s design engineering team (or its type certification office) throughout the project to minimize the risk of unpleasant surprises at the end of the project.[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off”
